Pathways are a great addition to your home. Paths can take you from one part of your

garden/house to another or they can be special feature of your landscape. With some

thought and research you can create truly wonderful and practical pathways.


A simple concrete path along the edge of yard is great for large spaces. They are also

permanent and cannot be removed easily, so choose carefully. These paths are great for

waking or for kids riding bikes and scooters because they continuous. They are extremely

low maintenance and can be cleaned simply by spraying water or sweeping.


Another low maintenance idea is to use gravel. Line the edges of path with low-growing

and drought-resistant plants and fill the path with gravel. Different types of brick

arrangements can also replace gravel and they look equally good!


Using paving stones or giant pebbles is also a great way to make paths look attractive. Lay

out light paving stone and leave spaces between them. Set the large stones in a zigzag or

curved path to make it look natural instead of a straight line. Plant grass between them or if

the gaps are small, fill them with small, colorful pebbles.


Grow seasonal flowers in paths for an instant splash of color. Use contrasting color of

flowers at the edge. You could either use bulbs or annual flowers. These are great for

smaller spaces that are not used frequently; a corner of the garden that gets a lot of sun

would be ideal for this type of path!
